BLADELOGIC RECEIVES HIGHEST RANKING IN THE DATA CENTER AUTOMATION MARKET BY INDEPENDENT RESEARCH FIRM
BladeLogic Cited As Having The Strongest Data Center Automation Product Offering for Life-Cycle Management
Waltham, MA, January 24, 2005—BladeLogic, Inc. today announced that Forrester Research, an independent technology research company that provides pragmatic and forward-thinking advice about technology's impact on business, has ranked BladeLogic as a “Leader” in data center automation for life-cycle management. BladeLogic was among the select companies that Forrester invited to participate in the January 2005 Forrester Wave report entitled, “Selecting A Data Center Automation Vendor.” The report provides key criteria for evaluating data center automation products from the leading vendors in the market, including BladeLogic, BMC, HP, IBM, Opsware, Sun and VERITAS. BladeLogic was the only private company highlighted in the report.
Based on Forrester Research’s evaluation, BladeLogic received the highest rating for overall product offering and achieved high scores in product strategy and functionality categories such as configuration management, patch automation, systems and security compliance, automated discovery, rollback and recovery, and reporting. In addition, BladeLogic received the high score for “customer base” in the evaluation.
In the report, Forrester Research states “Offering the most detailed configuration management capability of any vendor in the study, BladeLogic Operations Manager models services and configuration elements across platforms. Services can be composed of elements like vendor packages, specific parameters in configuration files, Windows registry settings, .Net, and J2EE components. BladeLogic excels at building new servers and applications based on these models or scanning and repairing out-of-whack servers, where other vendors must perform binary comparisons or file-level checksums.”
