ORANGE UK SELECTS BLADELOGIC OPERATIONS MANAGER

Orange, the UK’s Most Popular Mobile Phone Company, to Manage the Server Infrastructure of its Customer Care Center Using BladeLogic Operations Manager

Waltham, MA, February 28, 2005—BladeLogic, Inc., the leading provider of data center automation software, today announced that Orange UK has expanded its relationship with BladeLogic and selected BladeLogic Operations Manager™, the company’s suite of automation solutions that enables organizations of any size to provision, configure, and manage large-scale, distributed server environments, as its data center automation platform.

Orange originally deployed BladeLogic’s Network Shell, the industry’s most secure command line interface that enables systems administrators to seamlessly manage thousands of servers, where administrative actions can be executed on a one-to-many basis to significantly increase administrator productivity. Under the terms of the new agreement, Orange will expand its use of BladeLogic by implementing the full suite of BladeLogic Operations Manager. As one example, BladeLogic will be used to distribute and configure various types of software components, including application files, patches and packages, to a large number of disparate servers with different operating systems. The operational benefits of BladeLogic will result in improved customer service and increased IT staff productivity.

“With 12 different data center locations, our challenge is to efficiently manage an ever-increasing number of remote servers in a cost-effective manner,” said Steve Cotterell, Principal Engineer, Orange. “With BladeLogic, we have vastly improved our ability to not only keep key elements in our network running more efficiently, but also to ensure that we can remain highly responsive to the quickly changing requirements of Orange’s business. Based on the benefits we have experienced since deploying BladeLogic, the return on investment has been compelling. Going forward, BladeLogic will be a critical part of our management infrastructure as we push the envelope of data center complexity and scale,” added Steve.

“Forward-thinking enterprises like Orange recognize that today’s data center challenges require a holistic approach to automation. BladeLogic enables the automation of critical management processes to create a highly agile, business-driven data center environment,” said Luca Lazzaron, Vice President, EMEA Operations, BladeLogic. “We are extremely pleased that Orange has expanded its relationship with BladeLogic and look forward to working with Orange to drive dramatic data center operational efficiencies for its customers and partners.”
