BLADELOGIC CEO RECEIVES ENTREPRENEUR OF THE YEAR AWARD FROM ERNST & YOUNG
Dev Ittycheria Cited As One of New England’s Top Entrepreneurs
Waltham, MA, June 24, 2004—BladeLogic, Inc., the leading provider of data center automation software, today announced that its President and CEO, Dev Ittycheria, has been selected as a winner of the prestigious "Entrepreneur of the Year" award by Ernst & Young. The awards program, now in its 18th year, recognizes the region's best and brightest entrepreneurs whose contributions drive today's economy and tomorrow's opportunities. The selection was announced at the Awards Banquet held on June 24 at the Boston Park Plaza Hotel in Boston, MA.
The shift to distributed computing environments, resulting in an explosion in the number of devices and a dramatic increase in the rate of infrastructure and application change, has created a fundamental problem due to the inherent cost and complexity of managing the data center.
Co-founded by Ittycheria in 2001, BladeLogic provides next-generation data center automation software to enable organizations to more efficiently provision, configure and manage their data center infrastructure. Under his leadership, BladeLogic has acquired more customers, delivered better operating performance in terms of revenue and profitability, and grown its business faster than any of its competitors. As a result, BladeLogic is recognized as one of the most promising software companies in the industry today.
"While it’s very flattering to be personally recognized by Ernst & Young as a winner of their Entrepreneur of the Year award, BladeLogic’s success is really a result of the innovation and superb execution of the entire BladeLogic team," said Dev Ittycheria, president and CEO, BladeLogic. "Over the past three years BladeLogic has delivered outstanding results while facing stiff competition and a difficult macroeconomic environment. This award further validates that BladeLogic has emerged as a leading technology company with tremendous potential."
Ittycheria won the "Realizing Potential" award as part of Ernst & Young’s New England Entrepreneur of the Year program. He is now eligible to compete for one of several national award categories, including the 2004 National Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year award, to be presented later in the year.
The criteria for the Realizing Potential award, sponsored by Microsoft, includes the following: less than 100 employees, unique or interesting use of computer technology, owner/founder of business still active, community involvement, must be in business 3 years or more, and proof of strong sales growth.
