BLADELOGIC ANNOUNCES EXECUTIVE MANAGEMENT ADDITIONS TO SUPPORT ACCELERATED GROWTH
John McMahon appointed Senior Vice-President, Worldwide Sales & Services and Melissa Cruz appointed Chief Financial Officer
Waltham, MA, October 5, 2005—BladeLogic, Inc., the leading provider of data center automation software, today announced two important executive appointments to support the continued acceleration of business. John McMahon has joined BladeLogic as Senior Vice-President, Worldwide Sales & Services, and Melissa Cruz has joined BladeLogic as its Chief Financial Officer.
In a newly created position, John McMahon will be responsible for leading BladeLogic's global sales and services organizations. John brings a very strong track record in sales and sales management as he has led the worldwide sales organizations for three large public software companies. At Parametric Technology Corporation (PTC), John was the catalyst behind the sales force known for dominating the mechanical CAD/CAM software market. He managed an organization of 2,500 people, including 975 quota-carrying sales personnel and 350 sales managers, and grew revenues from $3 Million to $1.1 Billion in 9 years. At GeoTel, John managed the worldwide sales force prior to the company's acquisition by Cisco for $2 Billion. At Ariba, John had complete responsibility for the worldwide sales organization where he merged the sales forces of Tradex and Trading Dynamics and took Ariba to its leadership role in the B2B market.
“Over the last four years BladeLogic has delivered outstanding financial results and accumulated an impressive list of customers during a difficult economic period,” said John McMahon. “I have been fortunate to have had the opportunity to build and lead some of the most successful sales organizations in the software industry. My focus is to leverage that experience to develop a world-class software sales and services organization that enables BladeLogic to scale into a very large software business.”
Melissa Cruz joins BladeLogic as Chief Financial Officer. Melissa is responsible for leading BladeLogic's Finance, Legal, HR, and IT organizations. She brings over 20 years of experience in high tech finance, including 9 years at Digital Equipment Corporation, 3 years at Wellfleet/Bay Networks as the International Controller, and 8 years at Concord Communications, including over 5 years as the EVP of Business Services and CFO. At Concord, Melissa managed Finance, Legal, HR, IT, Operations, and Investor Relations. During her tenure as CFO of Concord, Melissa directed M&A activity that resulted in 5 successful acquisitions, raised a convertible bond debenture, oversaw the implementation of Sarbanes-Oxley procedures, and led the eventual sale of the company to Computer Associates for a 70% premium in June, 2005.
“I am very excited to join one of the hottest private software companies on the market today,” said Melissa Cruz. “Given the company’s market leadership, solid financial footing, and an impressive operating track record, BladeLogic is positioned to be the next big software company. My goal is ensure that BladeLogic has the appropriate foundation in place to allow the company to grow many times the size it is today, and to position the company for a future public offering.”
“With the industry’s most advanced data center automation technology, the largest installed customer base in the market, and a world-class management team, the future of BladeLogic is extremely bright,” said Dev Ittycheria, President & CEO of BladeLogic. “The addition of John McMahon and Melissa Cruz are important ingredients to our future success. John brings a spectacular sales management track record to BladeLogic. Similarly, Melissa brings the strong financial acumen necessary to ensure the company is ready to comply with the stringent standards necessary to succeed in today’s public markets. With these appointments BladeLogic has the management capacity to match the market and financial opportunity ahead of it.”
