Waltham, MA, November 18, 2004—BladeLogic, Inc., the leading provider of data center automation software, announced today that its Chief Technology Officer, Vijay Manwani, has received a Global Indus Technovator Award from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The Technovator Awards, presented by the Indian Business Club of MIT, were instituted in August, 2003 to honor significant contributions by innovators and entrepreneurs of South Asian descent that are leading efforts to develop cutting-edge technology with far-reaching applications. The 2004 awardees were recognized at a ceremony on November 17 at MIT.
Owing to MIT’s technological focus, the Technovator Awards are designed to leverage the technical expertise of people of South Asian origin, identify potential role models for South Asian youth around the world and provide a platform for showcasing the talents of innovators under the age of 40. The call for nominations was open through July 2004, inviting technology leaders from diverse fields including biotechnology, information technology, materials and devices, healthcare and medicine, developmental work and energy. These nominations were first screened by a team comprising of graduate students and post doctoral fellows at MIT and industry professionals from the greater Boston area. The winners were selected by a distinguished panel of judges consisting of eminent personalities from industry and academia. Manwani was a winner in the Information Technology category.
