NETFLIX SELECTS BLADELOGIC FOR COMPREHENSIVE DATA CENTER MANAGEMENT

World’s Largest Online Movie Rental Service to Automate Server & Application Management and Integrate Data Center Software Tools using BladeLogic

Lexington, MA, March 19, 2007—BladeLogic, Inc., a leading provider of next-generation data center automation software, today announced that Netflix, Inc., the world's largest online movie rental service, has selected BladeLogic’s award-winning suite of data center automation solutions as the platform to automate its IT infrastructure.

Prior to BladeLogic, Netflix managed its server and application environments using internally-developed tools and scripts. By selecting BladeLogic Operations Manager, Netflix will be able to further streamline operations and improve service availability by fully automating the entire lifecycle of its data center management processes including provisioning, patching, compliance and day-to-day server and application configuration management. In addition, Netflix will also implement BladeLogic Orchestration Manager, a software solution that provides process automation using event-driven workflow and data integration with other best-of-breed systems management software tools. As a result, Netflix expects to create a cohesive data center environment where configuration changes can be easily managed, controlled and enforced.

“After a thorough review of the leading automation software products available on the market, we chose BladeLogic as our data center automation platform due to the breadth and sophistication of its functionality,” said Mike Osier, Vice President, Information Technology and Operations, Netflix. “BladeLogic will help us to reduce the management costs per server, while delivering an IT environment which is more efficient and responsive to the needs of our business. We view BladeLogic as an important element of our IT ecosystem as Netflix marches toward its goal of 20 million subscribers by 2010-2012.”

“As the world’s largest online movie rental service, Netflix has a highly complex IT infrastructure consisting of a large number of servers and applications to support its rapidly growing business,” said Dev Ittycheria, president & CEO, BladeLogic. “By selecting BladeLogic, Netflix leverages a next-generation automation platform to manage its sophisticated computing environment to meet the needs of its business.
