Lexington, MA, November 20, 2006– BladeLogic, Inc., the leading provider of next-generation data center automation software, today announced that it has received the Economic Impact Award from the Massachusetts Alliance for Economic Development (MAED). In the only awards category of its kind in Massachusetts, BladeLogic is one of fifteen companies from the Commonwealth to be recognized for its outstanding contribution to the Massachusetts economy. The awards ceremony will take place on November 21st at the Seaport Hotel in Boston. Other companies to be honored at the ceremony include Boston Scientific, State Street Corporation, Wyeth Biopharmaceuticals, Bayer Diagnostics and General Dynamics.
BladeLogic was selected as a recipient of the award based on the company’s impressive revenue growth, broad market acceptance as the leader in an exciting new area of technology, as well as other factors including strong job growth, facility expansion and community involvement. During the past year BladeLogic achieved many significant corporate milestones, including:
• Record quarterly and annual financial results for the period ending September 30, 2006, with 223% quarterly revenue growth over the same period in 2005, and 108% annual revenue growth.
• The opening of a new corporate headquarters in Lexington, Massachusetts consisting of 31,000 square feet of prime office space, including state-of-the-art engineering labs and an executive briefing and demonstration center. The facility has capacity for nearly 250 employees, and is the fourth HQ facility the company has had in Massachusetts in the past 5 years.
• Surpassing the 200 employee mark earlier this summer with over 100 employees based in Massachusetts. The company also increased its global coverage with operations in 9 different countries across North America, Europe and Asia.
• The introduction of BladeLogic Release 7, the industry’s most advanced data center automation software platform, which provides breakthrough capabilities in operational efficiency, application release management, security and compliance assurance.
“The companies being honored at the Third Annual Economic Impact Awards represent the best in Massachusetts; companies committed to growing in the Commonwealth,” said Susan Houston, executive director, Massachusetts Alliance for Economic Development. “BladeLogic is a prime example of a Massachusetts-based software company that has utilized local resources to rapidly grow from a small start-up to be the leader of a new and exciting software market – data center automation.”
“When BladeLogic was founded in 2001, we had the option to establish our headquarters in a number of different locations around the country. We decided to base our company in Massachusetts due to the region’s legacy of entrepreneurial success, the state’s commitment to emerging technology companies, the abundance of local technology talent and the area’s high quality of life,” said Dev Ittycheria, co-founder, president and CEO, BladeLogic. “Five years later we are very pleased that we decided to settle in Massachusetts and firmly believe that the location of the company has been instrumental in helping build our reputation as one of the best performing software companies in the market today.”
